feeling frumpy

On Saturday I was at Lisa & Kelly's house babysitting Duke & I discovered the all-encompassing addiction of cable. 4 hours of "What not to Wear" and similar stuff has left me feeling the epitome of Minnesota Winter Frumpdom. Fortunately, they have a little form that tells me what to wear. UNfortunately, their advice is contradictory. (Do wear straight-legged pants? Don't wear straight-legged pants? What's a girl to do?)

Never much of one for fashion magazines, I've been living happily in my turtlenecks & cords from Kohl's. Any suggestions where I can find something cute, cheap-ish, & in my size (because I just don't fit into stuff at places like "Forever 21")?

I am not one to criticize others for frumpiness (James has actually asked me whether I am wearing my comfortable jeans for the second, or is it the third, day in a row to work). I went to Herberger's on Silver Lake Road yesterday - going out of business sale - and got a denim skirt, a pink bathrobe, a turquoise bra, and snow boots, all for reasonably cheap. I am hoping to wear them all as an ensemble - we'll see how it goes.

:) I'm hoping to see that ensemble, Jenell. (It reminds me of a time in high school when I wore my concert choir outfit of long black skirt, white tuxedo shirt, and blue cumberbund, tie & suspenders, topped off with a black & gold letterjacket. And snowboots, I think. Tres classy.) Thanks for the info about the sale; I may have to stop over there after work & check it out.
